Matt's Babies

Matt has quite the green thumb. He has been babying these tomato plants along for a few weeks now. He talks to them and checks on them many times a day. They are rewarding him with lots of new growth. We should have wonderful, yummy tomatoes this summer. Matt reminds me of both my Dad and George's Dad who were expert gardeners. Both of them grew beautiful tomatoes.

Noises

When I was getting ready for my early meeting yesterday (well it is at 8:45 a.m. but that is early for me these days) I heard a loud noise outside. I couldn't place the sound for a minute or two but then it clicked and I ran and got my camera just in time to see this.

The balloon went right over my neighbor's house and must have landed in the street just behind our house. I love balloons! So pretty and bright!

Me? A techie nerd?

Matt and Scott have been saying that I am turning into a 'techie nerd' because of these recent additions to my life!

George surprised me with this:

George has had one for a few years and we've used it on trips. I admit that I used to laugh at him for using it! In these first months that he has been living in Portland he says that he has used it a lot and that it has made life so much easier. I thought I'd just borrow his when I moved over there but he decided that he needed his so he bought one for me! I think it is really fun and I know it will make my move so much easier.

Then I bought this for my walking/jogging interval training. Matt told me that he and Scott had a bet that I wouldn't be able to figure out how to use it. But I showed them! I don't know how to do everything it can do but I have a good start.

So am I turning into a nerd? Before you answer, let me tell you that I am giving serious thought to buying an I-pad!!!!

Pata Negra

Our last night in Portland Scott wanted to take us to a Spanish restaurant that he had been to before. It was wonderful with all our Spanish favorites cooked like we remember them from Barcelona! Let's here it for garlic shrimp (gambas al ajillo) and grilled vegetables (escalivada) and tortilla espanola (potato & egg omelet) and croquettes (yummy little fried vegetables & chicken)! I treated myself to a couple of bites of Crema Catalana (Catalan custard with a hard cooked sugar top)! They even had the wonderful little green olives that I loved from Spain. And I didn't gain any weight! Amazing!

Scott's friend, Halley, went with us. She is a student and soccer player at the University of Portland and is the girlfriend of his friend Logan who is now a professional soccer player in Puerto Rico. That sounds strange but it is true. He just signed a contract with the Puerto Rico Islanders.

Trailblazers!

We went to the Portland Trailblazers vs. New York Knicks game last night. They really make it fun with give aways and interviews with the players on the Jumbotron! The game was a run away by the Trailblazers! The fans were enthusiastic and we enjoyed watching the two Spanish players.

Scott was actually more enthusiastic than he looks in this picture!

Tracy McGrady...and if you look at the to the side you can see Timothy Hutton in the black hat!

And the final score.....
