On my other trips to Africa I only saw lions from far away. These were still pretty far away, and I guess you don't want lions too close, but I'm really glad that I got to see them so well this time.
This male was sleeping the afternoon away. Presumably his pride had made a kill a few hours before. Lions do sleep most of the day; as many as 20 hours a day. Similar to our old house cat BC! The males in Tsavo National Park don't have the normal big mane that I associate with male lions.

I felt so lucky to actually see them moving around. I kept hoping they would walk over closer to the van but we weren't that lucky!
