Afternoon in the Mountains

I had told Matt, John and George that what I really wanted to do for Mother's Day was to go up the canyon on Saturday, cook tin foil dinners and make s'mores and play in the river.  And I got exactly what I wished for!!!!

Tin foil dinners

S-mores
Lots of play time
Plenty of 'stick and rock throwing in the river' time
Time to climb rocks with uncles and make Mommy really nervous

'Little boy heaven time" with rocks and sticks and dirty faces!

A wise friend once told me that everything with your family won't be perfect but that you will have perfect days....and this was one of them!

Celebration

The Mother's Day fun just never stopped!

Uncle Matt borrowed this totally cool dump truck and a large inflatable slide.  Uncle of the year!  He also agreed to babysit so that sweet Mary could treat Monica and me to a spa day!

Jackson loves trucks so this was a big hit!

Matt is just great with kids.  He and Jackson worked hard cleaning up the yard by putting sticks and pine cones in the back of the dump truck then dumping them.
I LOVE having a crowd around my table!
Boise and Eagle have great parks and we explored several!

Jackson loved the ducks that would come and eat in our yard.  "Daddy duck, Mommy Duck...."
Although it never got warm enough to use the waterslide feature of the slide it was still fun.
The Lewis brothers and a soccer ball in the backyard....so many memories!

And of course we had to have bubbles....it's a tradition!
Seeing my two grandkids together makes me so happy!
Isabella was somewhat concerned about all the mess in our living room and proclaimed, "Jackson, you need to learn to put away your toys!"

My Mom & Grandma heart was happy all week!

Perfect Mother's Day!

For our Covid- 19 Mother's Day in 2020, it was just George, Matt and me enjoying the day together.  This year was full of wonderful surprises that made it a perfect day for me!

On Tuesday, the doorbell rang and there was Mary with adorable Jackson!  I was so happy!

Then on Friday night, Scott walked in!  Special thanks to Matt for keeping this secret and being the airport to our house chauffeur.

This Mom and Grandma was so happy to have many of the people I love the very most together to celebrate Mother's Day!

Secret Waterfall

I just love spending time with our adult kids so I was happy when Matt invited me to go on a hike to a secret waterfall!  It's not far from our house.  You start hiking across the dry foothills.
After several miles, we could see a change in the topography.  Notice the rocky canyon that starts  in the middle of the photo.

We had to scramble down but were rewarded with a secret waterfall that only runs in the spring. I didn't know about this and I've lived in Eagle for a long time!
Definitely a selfie moment!
Matt's panorama shot shows the area well.
What a great day!

2020 Puzzle

We had so much fun finishing this 2020 Puzzle that I decided to frame it.  I don't think we will ever forget last year but I love having this bright memento on our wall.

Usually when we are working on a puzzle, we are convinced that one piece is missing but until this puzzle we had always managed to find it in the end.  Not so this time!  Yes it's a 2020 Puzzle!!!!

Isabella Starts Soccer

In other news - Isabella started soccer.  She was very excited about all her new gear including some bright pink shoes.

Our kids didn't start until 1st grade so this U-6 team is new for me.  According to Coach Scott, the only thing that matters at this age is having fun.

So far so good!  Tonight as we were leaving the field she proudly proclaimed, "Today I was EXCELLENT!"

Scott's In Town

The pandemic has made it really difficult for Scott to visit us or us to visit him.  He works for Starbucks and for much of the last year, the rule was that if you went out of state, you couldn't come in to work for 2 weeks, didn't get paid and had to find people to cover your shifts so we haven't seen our boy since last June.  This was the first Christmas we weren't together.  We were overjoyed when he arranged time off and came to spend a week with us.  Yeah!

On John's day off, we spent a fun day at Celebration Park on the Snake River.  Unfortunately George had meetings at work and couldn't join us.

The 'iffy' Idaho spring weather cooperated and we enjoyed a fun picnic before our hike.
Monica and I stopped about half way up the mountain.  The moment called for a Lewis Family selfie!
Matt, John, Scott and Isabella kept climbing up the very steep trail.

And they all made it to the top!
Our little Isabella is tough and fearless!
Monica spotted a coyote while we were waiting.  Immediately after she saw it we heard a lot of bird noises so I suspect the coyote was hunting chukars. As the guys hiked down, they tried  to see if they can catch a glimpse. No luck though.
I have to brag a bit on Isabella!  She never complained about being tired and just kept right on going up and up the 'big mountain'!  Monica and Johnny have done an excellent job with her.  She is always happy and smiling. And posing for photos!!!!
Uncle Scott couldn't resist doing a little posing with her!

We're all happy when Scott comes to town!
